TOC Community Cookbook
TOC Community Cookbook
In the spirit of the classic community cookbooks assembled by churches, PTAs, families, and charities, the Tables of Contents Community Cookbook is a collection of personal recipes and brief reflections on food from 36 contemporary poets, essayists and fiction writers.
All supporters will receive an “appetizer-sized” PDF of 4-5 recipes upon purchase, to tide you over until your physical copies arrive!
The TOC Community Cookbook includes recipes from Alexander Chee, Carmen Maria Machado, Idra Novey, Tommy Pico, Emma Straub, Angela Flournoy, Nafissa Thompson-Spires, Pitchaya Sudbanthad, Leanne Shapton, Paul Lisicky, and dozens more of our favorite TOC Reading Series alums.
All profits from the TOC Community Cookbook will go to support the ongoing food relief work of FIG (Food Issues Group) in New York City
This collection of recipes from writers' home kitchens is printed in full color, designed by Moriah Grace Rodriguez and featuring illustrations from 18+ visual artists. Evan Hanczor (founder of Tables of Contents and longtime chef of Egg in Brooklyn, NY) contributes an introduction and curated recipes from the TOC archives, including Colombian Arepas de Queso from Paola Mendoza’s SANCTUARY and Broke n Rice from Danez Smith’s HOMIE.
Recipes range from Turkey Albondigas Soup (Jordan Kisner) to Colombian Changua (Naima Coster); from Vietnamese Braised Pork Belly with Eggs (Abbigail Rosewood) to Jamaican Sorrel (Kaitlyn Greenidge) and a Grapenut Custard from Maine (Helen Phillips).
