The Tables of Contents Regenerative Residency – named for agricultural practices, often rooted in Indigenous wisdom and tradition, that return health to the land rather than simply extracting from it – is an artists' residency program we've imagined and shaped since late 2021. This March we are thrilled to host our third residency and return to the fertile Hudson Valley grounds of The Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming.

The residency is envisioned for early and mid-career artists who would benefit from time in a quiet place with a deep connection to the land, and is an extension of Tables of Contents' cross-pollination of food, literature, and art, as well as a new way for us to offer support to artists. We are indescribably fortunate to have the support and collaboration of one of our favorite places in the world, Glynwood, as our host and partner for the Regenerative Residency.

The Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming is a non-profit organization serving food and farming changemakers in New York’s Hudson Valley and beyond. All of their programs and projects are built around core strategies of training farmers and supporting future farmers, providing local food for every table, educating stakeholders to advance regional food, and building coalitions. We're lucky that they believe in the potential of this kind of residency to be a fruitful new branch of their work, and so grateful for their generosity in providing the use of one of their on-farm cottages for our residents during their three-week stay. The residency is designed to provide support for the development of existing projects, explorations of new ideas, or for a stretch of artistic rest between periods of production and growth.

Our three-week residencies are offered in the winter months, in a kind of artistic crop rotation with Glynwood’s growing season. Artists receive a live-and-work cottage on Glynwood’s grounds, a subsidy for travel costs, and groceries and food provided weekly by Tables of Contents and our partners.

It is our intention to seek out residents whose work engages with themes and issues of community, identity, land, environment, and of course food. Special consideration will be given to practitioners from historically under-considered and under-resourced groups including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and women artists.

In addition to space to live and work, we hope to be able to offer opportunities for connection with the community of growers, food workers, organizers, and artists that Glynwood and Tables of Contents are a part of. We also close each residency with a Tables of Contents dinner inspired by each resident’s work and featuring products from Glynwood and other regional farms.

At the close of each residency we host an intimate Tables of Contents dinner inspired by our residents’ work as fundraisers for the program’s future.

Applications for our 2025 Residency are open from Oct. 15th to Nov. 15th.
