The Tables of Contents Regenerative Residency is an artist support program envisioned for early and mid-career artists who would benefit from time in a quiet place with a strong connection to the land and regenerative agriculture.

An extension of Tables of Contents' work blending food, literature, and art, this residency provides time and space to develop an existing project, explore new ideas, or to lie artistically fallow between periods of production and growth.

This year, we are accepting applications for two writers to join our March residency, which will be held from February 24th to March 17th at the Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming in Cold Spring, New York.

We look for residents whose work considers community, identity, land, agriculture, water, and/or food. We also offer connections to the community of growers, food workers, organizers, and artists that Glynwood and Tables of Contents are a part of, in an effort to further cross-pollinate creative thinking across regions and disciplines.

Special consideration is given to practitioners from historically under-considered and under-resourced groups, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and women artists.

The Space

The Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming is a non-profit organization serving food and farming changemakers from New York’s Hudson Valley and beyond. Glynwood has generously offered to be our host venue, offering housing and support for our residents on their farm in the Hudson Valley.

For three weeks you’ll be staying in Clove Cottage along with one other resident. (In general, we plan to have our two residents co-habiating in this space.)  Clove has two bedrooms, two office spaces, two bathrooms, a shared living room, shared kitchen, and front and back porches.

THE RESIDENCY

Day 1

Residents arrive at Glynwood between 2pm-5pm (earlier arrival can be arranged if necessary) and are welcomed by Evan Hanczor of Tables of Contents and introduced to their Glynwood contacts for residency duration.

Days 2-20

After a brief orientation to Glynwood’s property, facilities, and residency logistics, you’re off! Enjoy the time and space to work.

Day 20 or 21

Tables of Contents will host a ticketed reading open to the public and to Glynwood supporters, where we will prepare light bites and cocktails in conversation with the resident’s work, featuring ingredients from Glynwood and regional farms and producers. This will include a conversation between the resident and Evan about creative process, growing, land, food, etc. Proceeds from the dinner go toward funding future residencies.

This year’s residency will be held from February 24th to March 17th, though we may have some flexibility a day or two on either end for arrival and departure.

Ask An Alum

Connect with one of our alumni to get a sense of the spirit of our residency. Instead of questions about logistics and specifics (which you can always ask us!) think of it as a way to learn about the residency from folks whose experience might feel similar to what you expect to experience.
